This can be so easy to do in today’s world of bigger servings and super-sized options. Why get a small, when you can super-size for only 50 cents more? Slow down when you eat your meals. Mentally prepare yourself for how much you plan to eat. Stay with one serving. Don’t go back for seconds. Tell yourself ahead of time that you will be done after your first serving. If you think you are still hungry, wait about 20 minutes and have more water. You will be surprised by how full you will feel after 20 minutes has passed. Usually, that second plate of food is what packs on those extra pounds, little by little. The more often you go back for seconds, the more often you will want to go back for seconds, so stop the cycle now. Of course you will think you are still hungry if your body is used to having seconds, so you have to be disciplined. It will take a little bit of time, but it will get easier. You will also be surprised by how much better you will feel and how the extra pounds will stay off when you break this cycle of extra unnecessary calories.
This is also easier to do when you are eating healthy and satisfying food choices. We almost always tend to over eat junk food.
It can be tough mentally at first, but realize that if you consistently eat “just enough”, your body will get used to this and eventually you won’t want to overeat. Your body will feel so stuffed and awful if you do overeat. Be patient and stick with eating “just enough”. It pays off.
Enjoy today,
