Have you Reached a Plateau?

Have you Reached a Plateau?

Do you feel like you’ve reached a plateau in your workout, health or maybe even your life? This happens to all of us, and as much as I have talked over the years about plateaus in our workouts, I find it happens in our life as well. I have always thought that taking care of our health and taking care of our life can be so similar. When I think of what to do when I feel that I have reached a plateau in my workouts, health goals or weight loss, it is the same ideas I would tell someone that is feeling stagnant and unsettled in their life.

So listen, if you are feeling unsettled, frustrated, or wanting something different to happen, whether it is your health goals or life goals, it is time to put your big girl (or boy) pants on and be honest with yourself. We all get to a point where we feel like nothing is changing, even though we think we are doing something every day that might help.

What do we do? Have the Courage to be Honest with yourself and Change.

Start with Being Honest
Honest about being unsettled. Honest about what you could do better for yourself. Honest about what you struggle with. Honest with yourself about what you are really doing and not doing. Be Honest with yourself that you need to change something. Do an Honest assessment with yourself about what you should change.

Have the Courage to Change
This takes courage. If it is a fitness plateau, change your workout. Do something different. Add interval training or circuit training. Do a different activity. Change up your strength routine. Add strength training. Add yoga. Add an extra day. If you are working out every day, add a day of rest. If you are jogging everyday, do walk/jog intervals, swim laps or take a class on one or two days. Change your routine. I can help you with this, email me, I would love to send you some tips.

If it is life, very similar. Change your routine. Add into your routine something different. If you have a goal you are going after, add time every day to do something to pursue that goal. Stop scrolling facebook if it is draining your energy and time. Start taking care of yourself. Eat better. Get more rest. Spend more time with your family if you are working too much. Look for a new job. Change your thoughts and attitude. Change your perception. Plan better. Have the courage to be honest about what you should change. Make a change.

Challenge Yourself
You have to challenge yourself to grow. This is true with workouts and life. Push yourself in your workouts. Make it challenging. Use a bit heavier weight. Increase your intensity with cardio. Do something hard. Again, I can help you with this, email me, and I will send you some tips.

Push yourself in life. You should be doing something every day to grow, especially if you are unsettled. Challenge your mind with a new class, book or training. Challenge yourself to a different conversation, or reach out to someone new or someone that you haven’t talked to in awhile. Challenge yourself to be in a better mindset each day. Start positive daily practices to help, like exercise, self-talk, meditation, listening to inspirational messages or quotes. Prayer.

Be Honest. Have Courage to Change. Challenge Yourself.

Break the plateau.

Believe in yourself a little bit more today and make a change.

Be intentional and enjoy the day!
