Tip # 7…No Artificial Sweeteners!

Approved artificial sweeteners include Aspartame, Sucralose, Saccharin, Neotame and Acesulfame Potassium. Just because they are approved, does not make them ok for you. Sad but true. Most studies show that artificial sweeteners are actually worse in many ways than consuming real sugar.  If you are going to have something sweet, eat the real deal.  Artificial sweeteners can make you seem more hungry, slow down your metabolism, cause headaches and have shown horrible side effects in lab studies with animals (www.prepareforfreedom.com).  Saccharin is actually 300-500 times sweeter than real sugar! This article provides good information on sugar and artificial sweeteners, Sweet Freedom! Standing Up to Sugar. Artificial sweeteners are just that, artificial. They are something that your body doesn’t need, so your body doesn’t know what to do with them.

Choose the real deal.  Some substitutes that are recommended are Stevia, agave nectar, maple syrup, raw sugar, and honey.

Enjoy “real” sweets in moderation.
