Strive for Progress not Perfection

Strive for Progress not Perfection

For today, this is another excerpt from my motivation guide that I will be releasing in the next few weeks. You may be waiting to find enough time for that perfect workout, whereas I am just striving to move and be active. Let go of needing a gym, finding enough time, saving money for a trainer, and convenience. Just moving is better than nothing. You have to let go of perfection and make some progress and move. Here is day 27….

To those of you that might still be struggling to make exercise a lifestyle. This is so important. I can’t stress it enough to just move everyday, in any way. Walk more.  Stretch more.  Sit less. Let your body move.  Your body needs this to survive, feel strong and not ache. If you are still trying to add exercise to your life, just start with walking.

•Walk 10-30 minutes in the morning.

•Walk 10-30 minutes after work.

•Walk 10-30 minutes after dinner.

•Walk your kids to school and home from school.

•Leave 10 minutes to walk during your lunch break around your building.

•Take a bike ride with your kids.

It doesn’t have to be big. Too many people won’t continue because they think they can’t do as much as they need to. Don’t be that person. More can come later. Always remember that any movement is better than not moving at all.

Find what works for you and get your blood circulating.  This will make you feel better. This will get your body prepared for more to come.  If you do this 3-5 times/week, your body will start to crave it.  Make it a habit.  Make it something your body can’t do without.  You will look forward to it.  It can be time for yourself, or find a friend and make it time spent with them.

If you are just starting to exercise, give yourself 3-4 weeks of being consistent and then take it up a notch, by adding intensity to your walks and/or adding some strength training. The hardest part is starting. There are several people in my life right now that are having a hard time starting. Just get out there and move. Don’t worry about the specifics now…just walk, just bike, just move. Your body needs it. Your mind needs it. Your heart needs it. Your mood needs it. You need it.

You will absolutely ALWAYS feel better after exercising.  If someone in your life needs motivating, please help get them going. Life is better when you are exercising. I promise.

Enjoy today!
