Family

The family unit has been heavy on my heart lately. We live in a different time for the family. Society pulls our family in different directions, and it is not always good for our family. I know people fighting for their family, giving up on their family and just struggling with their family. These scenarios are real and happen more often than we realize. Many times it is happening right in front of us, and we do not even see it. We need to help our families. Support our families. Support each other and put our families first. If you are at a low point with your spouse or family, always choose your family first. Also, give your friends hope, and help them to choose their family first as well. Be a support to them and encourage them to do the hard stuff for their family.

  • Say no to a play date and go meet your spouse for lunch.
  • Say no to cleaning and play games with your kids.
  • Say no to one more commitment and have a family dinner and bike ride.
  • Say no to someone else, so you can say yes to your spouse and to your family.
  • Life is tough. Relationships are hard. We fight for them, but especially for our family.

I also know many strong christian families that are doing their best, and working hard to build their family on a strong foundation. It is hard. If you have already been through a rough time and could not save your family, just have hope. Do not lose your hope for the future. Find the good and have hope for the future, because there is plenty of good in the future. Believe and have faith.

family of godI recently watched a sermon from the series Me & My House, called The Legacy of My House, from Bay Community Church in Alabama and loved the message. My dear friend is a big part of this church and I saw her post that they had a family series coming up, so I tuned in. There is a great message in this sermon, and I look forward to watching the rest. Lead Pastor Jerry Taylor gives a message of HOPE for the family, because we need to have hope and good, positive messages in our family life. This applies to everything in life. Find the good, and share these messages of good news and hope, because happy marriages are possible, but you have to try. He gives us good advice on how to build a good foundation for our family.

  1. Build your family on the word of God. Your family should be all about God. God should be a part of your family all week long…every single day.
  2. Do the hard and unpopular things that God wants you to do, not what others want you to do. Fitting in with our cultural should not be your focus. Do the hard stuff. Build your family on a strong foundation and live Christlike. Do not just believe in the Bible, do your best to live the Bible.
  3. Build a legacy of God for all of your generations to come. Our decisions today will affect our grandchildren as well. Think about this as you make decisions every day.

Thank you Jerry Taylor and Bay Community Church. Thank you for the message of hope. I love that I could get this message from Alabama, while I am in Florida. I look forward to the next one.

Surround your family with God every single day. Live your life for God, not for others, and watch your family thrive.

Enjoy today with your family,
Kelley
