For many of us, the thought of actually getting active seems overwhelming. To start with, it seems impossible to find the time, and then we are not sure what to do. Keep it simple to start and just start moving. In order to truly feel good and take care of this body we are given, we have to move. We have to challenge our muscles. We have to get our heart pounding. Our body needs this and our mind needs this too.
Walking is a great way to start. We can walk anywhere. Just get out the door and walk. Start with 20-30 minutes. Work toward 30-45 minutes. Be sure to warm-up with a more casual pace for the first 8-10 minutes. Also, cool down with a slower pace and stretching for 5-10 minutes. Do this 3-5 times each week.
When we are ready to take it to the next level, there are many options to change up during our 45 minute walk. Adding intervals throughout the walk is a simple way to add challenge and make it more interesting. This will burn more calories and make the time seem to pass quicker. Below is a great option for adding some jogging and challenge for an interval workout.
Now, the jogging can easily be replaced by a faster pace walk as well, and still be more challenging. This is up to us. Both options are great.
Just simply get started.
Plan the time. Put it on the calendar just like everything else.
Just move and enjoy today!
