Weekly Vibes ~ It is October!

Weekly Vibes ~ It is October!

New Month

Welcome to October!! I love a new month! New challenge, new intentions and a chance to sit down and plan what you want for this month. We are here to help. Get to planning!

Listen…this is a new week, a new month and a new season. If you haven’t taken a few minutes to sit and plan for your week, I want you to do that now. Just take time to think it through. What will you do for yourself each day and how can you improve how you feel each day with your choices.

Take the time to plan.

Encouragement this Week

To go along with our verse this week, we are going to practice kindness like no other. We are going to make others feel good, which will make us feel good.

Kindness, like a boomerang, always returns. ❤️

First, speak kind words to yourself. Keep your thoughts kind and encouraging. When you mess up here, give yourself grace and choose your words again.

Second, speak kindness to others. Golden rule…speak to others, and about others, like you would like them to do with you.

Third, I am challenging you to have some real conversations with your kids about kindness. This week I want you to ask them what kindness means to them, how kindness feels to them and how they can be kind to others. Start the conversation this week. Show them examples every day of how they can be kind when they might not be thinking about it. Let them see you be kind to your spouse, your neighbor, to them, to other parents, and to people you don’t know. Ask people that you see throughout the day (store clerk, janitors, kids sitting alone, bus drivers, waitress) how they are doing. Tell them it is good to see them, and always wish them a good day.

When you see your child show kindness, take notice and tell them. Kindness spreads. Let us spread kindness everywhere. I want to hear your stories. Please share them with me and with others.

Be intentional about being kind. As our kids get older, sometimes this conversation doesn’t happen as often as when they were littles. It is still just as important, and a much needed conversation and reminder as they get older.

Verse of the Week

Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body. – Proverbs 16:24

Challenge for This Month

Last month we challenged ourselves to make time for ourselves every day. We did at least one thing that would fill us up every single day. Continue this each day. Make this a habit.

Together, we are working to change our daily habits for the good, one day at a time, one habit at a time. Feeling good comes from what we do every day over and over.

Simple habits. Simple changes. One at a time.

This month we are going to work on our water intake. A good estimate is to drink half of your weight in water every day. For example, if you weigh 150 lbs., you should drink 75 oz. of water each day. You would need more if you are sweating a lot, or out in the heat for a long time.

Today I want you to first be sure you have a cup that you can take with you when you leave the house, and always have a cup that you refill when you are at home. Designated cups. Be sure you refill them as soon as you empty them.

Book Recommendation this Month

For this month, I recommend for you to read one of the 5 Love Languages books by Gary Chapman. I just finished the one for teenagers, and I strongly recommend it to any parent with a teenager, or one approaching the teenage years. Below are the three I have read, and there are more as well.

Enjoy the week my friends! Take time for yourself each day, choose kindness any chance you can, and be sure to drink your water every day.
