It Has to Become a Way of Life
I do believe there are great benefits to “programs”, as long as you look at it as a lifestyle change. You have to see the “program” as not just for the 21 or 30 days that it exists, but for the long haul. It has to be something you can implement into your life. This is the same with New Year Resolutions, they have to be choices that you plan to add to your daily life as a better way of life, not just for January, but forever.
If your mindset is telling you that, YES, you can make it for the 30 days, then that is all you will do it for. Your mindset has to tell you that this is something that YOU can continue after the 30 days. Your mindset has to see this as a lifestyle change. If this isn’t it for you, you need to refocus and get your mind wrapped around a “way of life”.
I always say to take the 80/20 approach. This is 80% of the time, you are making good, healthy choices, and 20% of the time you might fall off, or make not-so-good choices, and that is ok. Too many times we are all in, on a strict plan, and there comes a point where we just fall off and don’t go back. You have to find a balance that works for you. There has to be some enjoyment, but with the mindset of getting back to good choices right after you make a not-so-good choice.
THIS is a mindset and it IS possible.
So let’s look at this year differently. Let’s look at the plan that we are on as a stepping stone to an 80/20 way of life. Prepare yourself now that when you finish your plan, you are still going to be making good choices 80% of the time.
If you are not on a “plan”, let’s start making good choices today. MANY small choices everyday lead to a healthy life.
Start with a healthy mindset.
A healthy mindset that believes in YOU and keeps YOU going. A healthy mindset comes from daily prayer, meditation, and exercise. We have to fill our minds with encouragement, positive surroundings, music, healthy relationships, and daily doses of positive messages. Evaluate your daily practices, and work to surround yourself with positive vibes. You can do it. YOU just HAVE to DO IT.
We all have days of wanting to give up. This is natural. In order to succeed, we have to NOT give up, push through the hard day, GET UP and get our mind back in a good place. Yes, we just have to get ourselves back up and take one step at a time forward. YOU can do it.
This takes a good night’s sleep, prayer, self-love and just good ol’ strength to push through and KEEP GOING.
This can not JUST be a New Year’s Resolution. This is a WAY OF LIFE. This doesn’t just start on January 1st, a month before vacation or spring break. This starts today, and tomorrow, and the next day.
