#218 What We Should Be Teaching Our Kids

As adults, we’re still dealing with grown people who act like kids — drama, gossip, jealousy, comparison, and dishonesty. It makes you pause and ask… what are we teaching our own children?
In this episode, I share reflections as a parent (not a parenting expert) who has watched the world completely change since the 80s and the rise of the internet. The pressure on our kids is different now — louder, faster, and constant.

But the most important lessons are still simple.

In This Episode:

  • Teaching kids to stay out of drama and gossip
  • Learning to say no and protect their time and energy
  • Giving themselves grace when they mess up
  • Choosing good energy and healthy boundaries
  • Remembering social media isn’t real life
  • Why quality friendships matter more than quantity
  • Paying attention to what fills them up vs. drains them
  • How they start their day shapes everything
  • Hope is a choice — and you can always choose again

We can’t control the world they’re growing up in. But we can help shape how they move through it.
Simple daily choices matter — movement, nourishing food, time in prayer, quiet time, getting outside.
Sometimes our kids just need permission to know there is another way — and they will be okay.
